Troubleshooting Free File Shredder
Check common input, access and cancellation issues before trying again.
Start With A Small Test
If a selected file cannot be shredded, check whether it is open, locked, inaccessible, linked or in a protected location. The app deliberately rejects unsafe paths; moving a different file into a system folder is not a workaround.
Check Access And Running Apps
Use folders that your Windows account can access. Close apps using the selected files when the operation requires it. Do not change system security permissions just to force an operation through.
If You Need To Cancel
Use Cancel once and wait for the active engine to stop. Completed overwrites and deletions remain irreversible. Review the status before choosing additional files.
Before Trying Again
Read the status message, correct the reported input or path, and try the smallest affected selection. Keep logs local if they contain personal paths or filenames.
